The Simon Curtis Collection

Plymouth Proprietary Library has been given the poetry collection of the late Dr Simon Curtis. The collection, is wide-ranging, including volumes of Simon Curtis' own work, signed and dedicated work of contemporary poets, poetry collections and journals.

The catalogue, compiled by Alan Munton, is available on the library's computer, our website and in a hard copy. Currently the books are for reference only.

We are delighted to have received this gift and hope that it will give great pleasure to all our members, amongst whom we were proud to have included Simon Curtis. Our thanks go to his friends and family who have facilitated this gift in memory of Simon.

The poetry book collection is very extensive so I have broken it down into sections:

  • Hardback / Paperback poetry
  • Distinctive books: signed by the author, firsts (some of them), or early editions of older texts.
  • Pamphlets
  • Journals
  • Publisher Collections (Shoestring, Mandeville, etc.)
  • Books and journal publications by Simon Curtis.

Please note that we still have just a few more books to catalogue

This database is searchable. Press and hold the control followed by the letter f (ctl+f) to open the Find window in your browser. Select the tab of the spreadsheet you wish to search in. Enter the word(s) you are looking for e.g. Larkin.

Find

The first instance of the word Larkin will be highlighted. Clicking on the down arrow icon will bring up the second instance of the word, and so on. If the word displays in highlighted red then the word you are looking for is not in the spreadsheet so you may need to try a different word(s).

Annotation “ffep” means front free endpaper, where comments and signatures often occur.
