The PPL has a vast array of local history resources including books, maps, journals and archives. These cover Cornwall and Devon, including Dartmoor and, in particular, Plymouth. Recent donations include works by Chris Robinson, and the very exclusive Spirit of Dartmoor Tin, the result of twenty years' work

The maritime collection covers three bays and covers many areas including biography, voyages, exploration, the Royal Navy, wars and sailing. They are held in the main reading room and all are available to borrow by members.
The main reading room holds C18th and C19th fiction featuring classic works by Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, George Eliot and Samuel Richardson alongside lesser known authors. Next door we house C20th and C21st works including the lastest critically acclaimed works of fiction.
The PPL has a crime and thriller section tucked away within the library. It includes a 'classic crime corner' that features works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, and more. An ideal place to hide away ...
